Isn't she so cute? Ok... I know I am biased.

I do not really like Halloween.  When I was young my church played those scary movies explaining all the demonic activity that surrounds this holiday.  I am such a scaredy-cat.  Lets just say that this is not my favorite holiday.

Putting all that aside, back in January when I was about 5 months pregnant, Justin and I were shopping on a trip with our youth.  We found a skunk costume on sale for $4.00 from The Children's Place.  It was so cute and we couldn't pass up the deal.  We dressed Kate up today.  She is such a trooper and so laid back.  Justin wasn't home when I dressed her up, so I had to take the pictures by myself.   Enjoy our little one...

Why do I stay up so late??

For some strange reason it is 12:26 am and I am still up. I have no idea why... well, it may be from the 6 glasses of sweet tea I drank tonight. I am such a night owl though. It is like I can't go to bed before 11pm. My husband and I are about compatible as can be except when it comes to our bed time. He would love to be in bed by 8 pm and up at 7 am. I would love to go to bed at 1 am and get up at 1 pm. My wish is impossible because I have a six month old who gets up every morning at 7 am for a diaper change and falls back asleep until 8:30am. (I wouldn't trade that schedule for anything). I think she takes after me... and likes to sleep in. The sad thing is my bad habits have rubbed off on my husband who stays up with me now.

I feel very convicted when I read Psalm 127... verse two states, "It is vain for you to rise up early, To retire late, To eat the bread of painful labors; For He gives to His beloved even in his sleep." I have a confession...I don't stay up late out of ambition, but because I am anxious and don't like laying in bed thinking of all the major decisions we have to make right now. BTW.. I love the when God uses the word beloved... I can't believe that he considers me (a nobody) one of his beloved. I love this quote from one of John Piper's sermons. He was preaching on Psalm 127 "

"God does not lay down specific rules for how early we rise for work and how late we knock off at night. But he does lay down this principle for his beloved: Don't rise early and go late to rest out of anxiety, out of fear and fretfulness. If the joy of fruitful labor lures you to work 12 hours a day, so be it. But take heed lest you are really deceiving yourself, and in fact are being driven by anxiety, or by her twin sister, selfish-ambition. Christians will work hard, but they will work more for the joy of all the good their work can bring to others than they will out of fear at what men will think if they fail. So,

Be diligent as God may lead
And eat the bread you earn,
But fret not over what you need
And let not worry burn."

Question #1 - Why am I blogging?

Questions of a wife and mother...

Question #1 Why am I blogging?

Well, I don't know if anyone will ever read my blog, but I thought I would pose questions about my daily life. I also want to have a diary to remember life. With my memory, I don't remember what happened last week. I also would love commentary and comments. I am enjoying reading other blogs and I am excited about joining the blogging community.
