Will I ever get over it?

I have been having a hard time with Kate growing up. I know she is still a baby, but it amazes me everyday how much she is changing. I feel like she kind of understands us now... especially when we say.."no". She has such a cute personality and gives me these big smiles that makes my heart melt.

My aunt came to visit (and babysit) last week. We did this amazing weekend with our youth... and I could not have been involved if it wasn't for her. I snapped this picture right before she left and it is one of my favorites that I have of her and Kate. This picture has two of my favorite people in it. I think my aunt adores Kate just as much as Justin and I do. I am so thankful to have her in our lives... she is amazing extension of my grandma (who I miss so much). I was showing Kate a picture of my grandma Eileen today. I was telling her about my grandma. I so badly wish she was still here to help me raise her.

I realized there are two things I don't ever think I will get over... being sad about Kate getting older and missing my grandma. Please remember to cherish each and every moment you have with everyone in your family. Time flies by and life is so short... these two things always catch up with each other (usually too soon).

Is it all fun and games until someone throws up?

Justin was spinning Kate around yesterday and she was giggling so cute. I told him that she was going to get sick on him (it was right after lunch), but I wanted him to do it again so I could get it on tape. (I just love to hear her laugh!) Yes... again, I ask myself... what was I thinking?
Anyway, we got her laughing on this video. Yes, she did get sick on her daddy. No, I did not get that part on tape... but I wish I had...it was funny!

What's with the delay?

I have been so busy with family in town, I feel like my blog is on a 10 day delay (kind of like the TV delay to make sure nothing inappropriate is shown). I assure you that my delay is not to bleep anything out... other than maybe all the cleaning I have been doing between and after my guests. I hate to clean (and consider it a bad word... seriously I dread doing it), but I love a clean house! There is nothing better to me than newly vacuumed floors (if we are having people over, I don't let Justin walk on the carpet.. yes I have a touch of OCD). I love clean sheets and the fresh scent of cleaning products and newly done laundry. I just don't like doing it. I also love all the swiffer products. See Lea's blog for a new use of the duster.

Anyway... we had such a great time with Beth (Justin's Sister) and Sara Beth (our niece). Kate loves them both so much! We mainly just hung out.. and made it to the mall one day. We miss them! Here are some pictures of their trip.

**Also, Please be in prayer for our friends Scott and Meghan. Their little baby (1 week old) had surgery on his jaw (they had to break it and put in rods). He is so sweet, please pray for Scott and Meghan (peace) and little Silas (healing).

Is Kate Really Nine Months Old?

This past week has been crazy with Kate sick and my sister-in-law in town. Sorry for the delay on this post.... I planned on posting this (and started writing) last Wednesday, February 4th (thinking it was the day that Kate turned 9 months old). I was talking to Justin that morning (of the 4th) telling him that I can't believe Kate turned 9 months today, etc. and he had to tell me that I was off a day. She had turned 9 months old on Tuesday (the 3rd). Yes, I am her mother... Yes, I should know what day it is and what day she was born... I seriously think I am loosing it.

Anyway, I wanted to update you all on how much my baby has grown. I seriously don't know what we did before we had her. She is definitely a daddy's girl (click here to see her say dada). She lights up and gets so excited every time she sees her daddy. She has the chubbiest cheeks, which I must give a hundred kisses a day.

We are starting to see her personality(we are hoping she has a good one). We are working on her crawling.. she scoots (army crawls) everywhere. She is pulling herself up. She is working on other sounds, but still only says DaDa (and smiles every time she says it). She is very curious and into everything.

She has no teeth (we think she is getting one, but don't really know what to look for), weighs 18 pounds and is 30 inches long. She has big, blue eyes and I love them!

For some reason this week, I am sad and shocked at how quickly she is growing up. I am looking forward to the next stages in her life, but I am sad that my little baby girl is getting big.

Did I really have to call the doctor six times?

Kate was sick for the first time yesterday. She was running a temperature, throwing up and not eating. I must say, I had no idea what to do. I didn't panic, but I may have if we weren't good friends with her doctor. We are pretty close with her doctor and his family, but did I really have to call him six times? (This was all in the matter of a couple of hours).

Looking back, he must have thought I was crazy. I called him after anything I did to update him on her status. I wanted him to look at her last night, but thought it would be a little ridiculous to have him leave the Super Bowl party (I supposed to go - Justin and one of our Youth Leaders were hosting it).

I took her into his office today and she just ended up have a stomach virus. He said that it would probably only last 24 hours... and it did. She seemed somewhat back to normal this evening.

Things I learned:
-Kate has the nicest and most patient doctor.
-I need to relax... she will be fine.
-Use common sense... I asked some pretty stupid questions.

Warning to my doctors:
Don't give me your cell phone number... I will call when there is a problem.
